Please join us on Zoom to hear a discussion on "Syrian Jews Paths to Freedom" with our guest speaker: Sarina Roffé, who is a journalist, an author and a historian. She is an expert on the topic.

Sarina will be discussing what happened to the Jews of Syria from 1936 to the end of the French Mandate and later in the aftermath of the creation of the State of Israel. There were persecutions, including the murder of spy Eli Cohen, limitations on travel, schooling and intense antisemitism. What relief was given by Jewish organizations? Who helped them as they escaped or used smugglers to leave the country in the dark of night? What paths did they take? How these Jews ultimately were able to leave via an organized lobbying effort in 1992?

Learn the answers as Sarina uncovers documentation from many agencies, interviews with those involved and first-person accounts from the persecuted.
